Explanation

The Contentarea Reference symbol is only meant to be used in combination with the Page Reference symbol. While the Page Reference symbol represents a page (properly not drawn on the same sitemap fragment) to which a link points the Contentarea Reference symbol is meant to represent a defining contentarea (also properly not drawn on the same sitemap fragment) from which a link originates.

Unlike the defining contentarea a Reference Contentarea doesn't need to draw all links originating from the contentarea. Also the Reference Contentarea isn't drawn in a page since it may actually reoccur on several different pages.
